Job Description
Part-time Social Worker Casual position
Job Description:
Alexandria City Public School (ACPS) Adult Education program is seeking a part-time social worker/therapist for a part-time position within the Adult Education Program for the 2025-2026 school year. An ideal candidate will have a background in school social work or a related field trauma-informed care clinical case management responsibilities and previous experience working with adolescents.
Duties for this position would include but are not limited to:
Direct support to students
- Counseling (group individual)
- Assist with student attendance
- Social Emotional Learning classroom presentations
- Developing intervention strategies to increase academic success
- Helping students develop appropriate social interaction skills
- Assisting with conflict resolution and anger management
- Providing trauma-focused individual counseling
- Providing crisis intervention to students in need
Qualifications:
- Education: Masters degree in Social Work.
- Certificates & Licenses: Valid Virginia Department of Education license with an endorsement in Social Work or eligibility to obtain one.
- Key Competencies:Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of individuals from diverse backgrounds. Bilingual preferred not required
Clearances:
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
- Tuberculosis Skin Test.
Public Health Compliance
- Must follow safety and health protocols.
- Approximately 3 days per week 8:30am 1:30pm $46 an hour -
