Summary :
The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Administrator is responsible for the overall operations management and strategic direction of the surgical center. This role includes overseeing clinical and administrative functions ensuring compliance with regulations fostering a culture of quality care patient satisfaction and other duties as assigned. The ASC Administrator will collaborate with medical staff operational teams and external stakeholders to achieve the centers goals and objectives.
Job Description:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operational Management
- Oversee daily operations of the ASC to ensure efficiency and high-quality patient care.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures.
- Manage staffing needs including hiring training and performance evaluations of administrative and clinical staff.
- Understands and effectively works within the surgery center and its partner agencies.
- Financial Oversight
- Prepare and manage the annual budget monitor financial performance and ensure profitability.
- Implement cost control measures and financial strategies to optimize resource utilization.
- Conduct regular financial analyses and reporting for stakeholders.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all local state and federal regulations as well as accreditation standards (e.g. AAAHC JCAHO).
- Lead facility inspections and investigations addressing any issues or deficiencies in a timely manner.
- Facilitate the development of risk management and quality improvement programs.
- Quality Assurance
- Oversee quality improvement initiatives ensuring integration with overall management functions and adherence to patient safety standards. This includes a focus on continuous improvement to reduce the total cost of care.
- Advocate for patient safety and quality care through continuous monitoring and performance improvement initiatives.
- Implement policies that promote a culture of safety and accountability.
- Lead patient satisfaction and service excellence initiatives addressing patient feedback and concerns.
- Ensure the Center is participating in external benchmarking to develop Best Practice standards
- Strategic Planning and Development
- Collaborate with medical staff and administration to develop strategic plans for growth and service offerings.
- Explore opportunities for partnerships community engagement and marketing initiatives.
- Stay informed about industry trends best practices and advancements in surgical technologies and methodologies.
- Staff Leadership and Development
- Mentor and support staff development and continuing education.
- Maintain strong communication and collaboration among clinical and administrative teams.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and employee satisfaction.
- Patient Relations
- Improve patient experience through effective communication and service delivery.
- Address patient concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure a patient centered focus in all operations and interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration Nursing Business Administration or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a healthcare setting with demonstrated proficiency in ambulatory surgery operations preferred.
- Previous experience in a surgical environment and knowledge of surgical procedures is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
- Contributes to the personal and professional growth of others through feedback coaching and support.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in healthcare management software and electronic health records (EHR).
- Knowledge of budgeting financial management and regulatory compliance processes.
- Certifications:
- Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform tasks that require standing walking and sitting for extended periods.
- The role may involve occasional lifting of equipment or supplies (up to 25 lbs.).
