Job Description

As the Universitys largest and most varied academic unit the College of Arts Humanities & Social Science is comprised of artists learners performers scholars scientists and teachers and acts as a central hub where many of the Universitys disciplines intersect. The Office of the Dean for the College of Arts Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS) is the colleges administrative center directly responsible for guiding coordinating and applying academic financial and human resources policies for 22 departments programs schools and centers housed in CAHSS. Half of the Colleges departments and schools offer masters or PhD programs. CAHSS scholars artists instructors staff and students collaborate in a shared quest for knowledge about the human condition and the development of skills to improve our local and global communities.

Position Summary

The Anna Maglione-Sie Chair manages and furthers the vision of the Anna Maglione-Sie endowment for Italian Culture which promotes the Italian program. This position is responsible for the design and management of its programs as well as the maintenance of its fiscal health and sustainability. Specifically the chair is charged with designing and executing efforts to: 1) honor Anna Maglione-Sie and her contributions to the University Italian culture and our community; 2) attract and retain outstanding faculty members in Italian language literature and culture; 3) support research as a means of strengthening the Italian program; 4) increase the number of students attracted to and enrolling in the Italian program.

The chair is responsible for designing managing and furthering all aspects of the endowments goals. This includes faculty and student initiatives programs grants and awards as well as teaching and advising in support of the Italian program.

The chair reports to the CAHSS Senior Associate Dean and must be a permanent appointed faculty member in CAHSS at the tenured or TCP associate or full level. They work closely with other members of the Deans Office.

This is a three-year part-time administrative appointment spanning 12 months of the calendar year during which time the faculty member will retain responsibilities for teaching and scholarship/creative work and continue to accrue time towards sabbatical. This term will end June 30th 2028.

Salary Range:
The salary rate for this position is $10000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
