Job Description Summary

Bentley Universitys Office of Equal Opportunity and Institutional Equity (OIE) responds to allegations of identity-based discrimination and harassment as well as sexual misconduct in accordance with Title IX. We offer resources support measures and accommodations facilitate reporting options to address harassment discrimination or sexual misconduct offer conflict resolution services and educate the community on how to prevent and respond to these issues. We are seeking a Graduate Assistant to assist in our efforts to create innovative informative content and programming to support the important work of this office that will appeal to students faculty and staff at Bentley.

This position is for the Academic Year 2025-2026 (September June) will be paid at an hourly rate and will require 10-15 hours per week. Hybrid work environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Graduate Assistant for Communications will support the office by creating high quality engaging content to establish community awareness of the OIE. In addition the Graduate Assistant will play an important role in creating content and otherwise supporting training and promotional events. The right candidate will have a commitment to the work of the office and have some experience engaging in matters concerning discrimination harassment and sexual misconduct. The main duties includecreating innovative informative content articles and media opportunities to share important information on services offered. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with excellent writing electronic media/design and organizational skills. The job duties for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Create informative and interesting communications for Bentley students faculty and staff on topics such as non-discrimination and Title IX policy/process; responsible employee policy; bystander intervention; diversity and inclusion; alternative resolution processes; and how to respond to disclosures of discriminatory conduct or sexual misconduct.

  • Collaborate with students and campus stakeholders to support programming training and communications goals.

  • Assist in the planning coordination and communications for Dating/Domestic Violence Awareness Month Sexual Assault Awareness Month and with other specialized campus programming.

  • Update existing media and develop new print and electronic media focused on non-discrimination policies and processes the work of the OIE office and related initiatives.

  • Create and develop content for the OIEs social media and website.

  • Support the OIE teams development of engaging training materials including PowerPoint presentations posters brochures and other written materials and video recordings

  • Other responsibilities as assigned based on individual skills interests and department need.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Graduate student currently pursuing degree in higher education administration marketing communications journalism diversity and inclusion studies or related field.

  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and interact with culturally diverse individuals.

  • Familiarity with social marketing and communications strategies.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to effectively communicate both individually and in group settings.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to understand and address the dynamic concerns of college students faculty and staff with empathy.

Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Currently enrolled in graduate degree program in relevant field.

  • Experience developing communications marketing plans training materials.

  • Proven ability to work independently when needed with little supervision or guidance.
