SUMMARY: The incumbent works with the youth offenders who have been referred to the Juvenile to Healing Wellness Court (JWC) by the Tribal Prosecutor. Works closely with the JWC Director youth offender and parents on a corrective case plan developed with the youth and family approved by the JWC Director and the Juvenile Healing to Wellness Court Activities. Work with youth and family to alleviate negative behavior by the use of the four Traditional and Alternative justice solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- The Case Manager will receive assigned cases from the Juvenile Wellness Court (JWC) Director.
- The Case Manager will develop individualized Case Plans with each youth and their families and submit such plan to the JWC Director for approval and Judge for review.
- The Case Manger will provide intense case management and monitoring of assigned youth and will work with the parents to ensure recommendations by the JWC Judge are being followed. The Case Manager will participate in the weekly report on the youths adherence to the Plan activities.
- It will be the Case Managers responsibility to monitor the youths participation at the school; meeting with the school teachers and counselors insuring that the youth is meeting the grade requirements. The Case Manager will also meet weekly (sometimes daily) with the Truancy Officer to ensure attendance is at 100% per case plan.
- The Case Manager will be responsible for ensuring the referral of the youth to specialized services i.e. alcohol assessment or treatment is completed. The Case Manager will work closely with the family on transportation issues and if transportation is required will transport family to scheduled appointments.
- The Case Manager will meet with other tribal youth program staff to keep abreast of youth issues in the community.
- The Case Manager will meet regularly with the WC Director to discuss cases plan activities and made recommendation for program improvement.
- The Case Manager will maintain records of activities with each youth assigned to them and make those reports available to the WC Director for grant reporting purposes.
- The Case Manager is expected to work with OJJDP trainers and TA providers.
- The Case Manager will serve as an active member of the Omaha Nation Juvenile Justice Planning Team (ONJJPT) including attendance at all planning sessions participation in data gathering and training offered specific to the purpose of the WC.
- The Case Manager will submit a monthly narrative report of activities to the WC Director.
- The Case Manager will meet quarterly with the WC Director and judges to discuss program concerns and growth.
- Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- AA Degree or Bachelors preferred and three years of experience in child welfare victim advocacy offender services or related field.
- Experience with community groups governmental (Tribal State and Federal) and community agencies.
- Experience supporting empowering and managing individuals.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Must have valid Drivers License and be insurable by Tribal insurance
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:
- Ability to work effectively under pressure of case timelines and deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team environment while also working independently.
- Demonstrated capacity to handle multiple tasks and large caseloads.
- Excellent case organizing mentoring mediation conflict management skills.
- Knowledge of Omaha Tribal community resources with demonstrated experience working with Omaha residents and an understanding of Omaha culture values and belief systems.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Computer literacy in word processing email internet and spreadsheets.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of community resources available for participants.
- Knowledge of Case Management principles local labor market information and support services available.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as part of a team.
- Must be willing to obtain specialized training.
- Proficient in the use of basic computer programs such as Word and Excel.
