Job Title: Recreation Assistant I
Department: Recreation
Reports To: Recreation Program Coordinator
Status: Part Time Non-Exempt (Hourly) (all year long all seasons)
Wage Scale: $10.40 $12.00 (Typical starting wage $10.40 - $11.20)
Close Date: July 11th 2025
Hours: Hours may vary (typically late afternoon/ early evening and Saturdays)
Position Summary:
Under general supervision attends organized athletic events such as softball football soccer
etc. and officiates games serves as the official interpreter of rules and regulations monitors
play umpires referees acts as a line judge etc. records the individual and team scores
provides the final/official results to Recreation Program Coordinator and/or Recreation Manager
and other duties as assigned by the Recreation Program Coordinator and/or Recreation Manager.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of multiple sports rules and regulations
Ability to work well with others
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk stoop
kneel crouch or crawl use hands to finger handle or fee reach with hands and arms talk hear
and see. Duties require sufficient mobility to work in an athletic setting; standing and walking
for prolonged periods of time. Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision
distance vision peripheral vision and depth perception. The employee is also occasionally required to sit.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to moderate to loud

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be 14 years of age or older
Ability to read and write
Ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of sport(s) to be officiated and
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
