Are you passionate about fabrication manufacturing and mentoring others Indian River State College is seeking a dedicated Manufacturing & Fabrication Facilitator to join our team and empower students with real-world skills. In this role youll blend hands-on training with classroom instruction teaching students how to safely and effectively use materials tools and machinery to bring ideas to life.

As a key member of our instructional team youll design engaging curriculum oversee lab/shop activities and guide students through industry-standard fabrication techniques. Whether youre mentoring aspiring technicians or updating training to reflect the latest industry trends youll play a vital role in preparing students for certifications and career success in advanced manufacturing.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction Manufacturing & Fabrication Facilitator is responsible for teaching and training students in manufacturing processes materials tools and safety and inspire students to develop essential skills in fabrication and mechanical assembly. This role bridges theory and practice supporting student learning in both classroom and lab/shop environments. Design curriculum provide hands-on training and assess student performance while ensuring that safety and operational standards are met.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruction & Training

Deliver theoretical and practical lessons on manufacturing processes blueprint reading materials hand tools power tools and safety.

Lab Supervision

Oversee students in a hands-on lab environment guiding them through the safe use of miscellaneous equipment. Maintain tools and machinery and ensure they are in good working condition. Enforce safety protocols and OSHA regulations to minimize risk and accidents.

Curriculum Development

Design and update course materials and assessments to ensure they align with industry standards and technological advancements. Ensure instructional materials meet educational goals and prepare students for certifications and workforce readiness.

Student Assessment

Evaluate and assess students skills providing feedback to help improve their performance and technical competencies. Administer written oral and hands-on tests to gauge student proficiency. Support students in achieving certifications where applicable.

Industry Engagement

Maintain industry connections to stay current with trends and technological advancements in general fabrication and advanced manufacturing. Liaise with local businesses and industries to ensure the training aligns with current job market needs.

Miscellaneous

Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must meet credentialing requirements set by Indian River State College
  • Minimum five (5) years Hands-on experience in fabrication processes such as machining woodworking sheet metal work or composites working in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in safe operation of hand tools power tools and fabrication machinery.
  • In-depth understanding of workshop safety standards tool maintenance and risk management practices
  • Professional fabrication manufacturing or prototyping industry experience is highly valued.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety standards and other safety protocols relevant to fabrication.
  • Excellent communication instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills patience and a passion for teaching and helping students succeed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Ability to engage and motivate participants from diverse backgrounds

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit stand walk bend lift reach up stoop and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. Physical skills required include the ability to lift heavy boxes and materials to move equipment from room to room and to work for extended periods at a computer station. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines such as copier fax telephone and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
