Inspired by current research in childcare practices this childcare center embraces a philosophy rooted in child-centered play-based learning within a nurturing and stimulating environment. CWCC emphasizes a developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters cognitive social emotional and physical growth through hands-on experiences observation and individualized attention. It promotes a collaborative approach valuing partnerships with families and continuous professional development for staff.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a passionate dedicated and qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our team. Under the guidance of the Center Director and Lead Teachers this role is responsible for providing high-quality care and educational experiences for children in a safe healthy and engaging environment. The Early Childhood Educator will implement a curriculum aligned with Connecticut Early Learning Developmental Standards (CTELDS) focusing on fostering each childs unique developmental needs and promoting a love for learning.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum Implementation & Child Development:
- Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and lessons based on the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards.
- Facilitate play-based learning experiences that encourage exploration problem-solving and creativity.
- Establish and maintain a positive and consistent classroom routine.
- Guide children in developing self-regulation social skills and positive peer interactions.
- Create an inviting and stimulating physical environment that supports learning and play.
- Contribute to ongoing assessments and maintain accurate records. Using observations to inform curriculum planning and individualized support.
- Adapt activities to meet the individual needs interests and abilities of all children including those with special needs.
- Observe and document childrens progress behaviors and developmental milestones.
- Ensure the constant supervision and safety of all children in the classroom on the playground and during all activities.
- Maintain a clean organized and safe learning environment adhering to all licensing regulations and center policies.
- Implement emergency procedures as necessary.
Family Partnership & Communication:
- Maintain open and respectful communication with parents/guardians regarding their childs daily activities progress and any concerns.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and family engagement events.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all families.
Professionalism & Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with co-workers supervisors and other professionals in a kind and respectful manner.
- Participate in staff meetings training sessions and professional development opportunities.
- Adhere to professional ethics and maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the director or assistant director to support the overall operations of CWCC.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development or a closely related field is required.
- Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education Child Development or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with young children (infant/toddler preschool) in a licensed childcare setting.
- Experience with play-based child-centered curriculum models is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education and ability to create a nurturing supportive and stimulating environment for children.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Patience flexibility creativity and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a kind and respectful manner.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications for online training Zoom conferences record-keeping lesson planning classroom organization and communication.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
- Patience and physical stamina are required.
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk run (when needed to supervise children) stand sit (in small chairs) squat reach talk and hear.
- Must be able to occasionally climb or balance stoop kneel crouch crawl walk run speak and hear.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 20-25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 35-50 pounds carrying children.
- Must be able to push a stroller and take long walks.
- Must be able to remain patient and effective with frequent interruptions.
