Job Description

The Boardinvites applications from qualified teachers forthe following position:

LOCATION:

St. Josephs School Simcoe

GRADE(S)/SUBJECT(S):

Special Education Resource Teacher (SERT)

FTE:

1.0 FTE

QUALIFICATION(S):

Primary/Junior or Junior/Intermediate Special Education Part 1 Special Education Part 2 or Specialist Preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Works in consultation with classroom teachers parents/guardians and student (where appropriate) to develop implement and evaluate programs/services provided to students;
-Collaborate in the IEP development process including a plan for transitions;
-Assists the classroom teacher by generating ideas and suggestions for program accommodations and modifications; provides suggestions with respect to strategies and resources;
-Collaborates with the classroom teacher and delivers instructional programs for special needs students (provides individual and/or small group instruction delivered in a classroom or a small group setting);


-Assesses individual students by means of observation information assessment and standardized educational assessment as appropriate;

-Participate in the In School Team as appropriate; and

-Assists in the facilitation of communication and partnerships between parents/guardians and school staff.

In accordance with the OECTA Collective Agreement the Board shall identify the three (3) most senior applicants to the positionwho hold the required qualifications for the position to be interviewed.

If no qualified occasional teacher applies or if all qualified applicants decline the interview the Boardshall consider external qualified applicants who are not on the occasional teacher roster.

The Board shall access and review the information contained in an applicants portfoliofor hiring purposes. Applicants are encouraged to ensure their portfoliois current and contains all relevant information including information about Additional Qualifications that are not currently listed on your Certificate of Qualification as issued by the Ontario College of Teachers.

About Us:

The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board offers a Christ-centered education to over 13000 students from Brant Haldimand and Norfolk counties the City of Brantford Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. The district has approximately 2100full and part-time staff committed to supporting Belonging Teaching and Learning and Wellness for all. We currently have 28 elementary schools 3 secondary schools and a multisite Alternative Education school and 3 administrative offices.
