Were looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our cross-functional engineering teams.
Our teams are mission-driven diverse and passionate about solving real-world problems for thousands of companies globally. While the domain youll work in may vary (e.g. Operations Talent Finance Growth) the expectations autonomy and support will be consistent.

The Engineering team at large

At Factorial we have a team of 150 very talented fullstack developers. We look for smart people who are curious proactive and have good soft/communication skills.
We are not looking for a long list of skills and technologies. Our stack is Ruby on Rails for the backend and React/React-native for the clients.

What Youll Do

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Designers to build user-centric maintainable solutions.
  • Develop features across the full stack (frontend/backend).
  • Participate in code reviews pair programming and team rituals to maintain high engineering standards.
  • Take ownership of tasks and deliver independently or in small groups with growing autonomy.
  • Debug production issues and contribute to the stability and performance of the platform.
  • Work in agile teams with clear priorities and a shared roadmap.
  • Learn continuously and contribute to team knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Contribute to planning estimation and retrospectives.Your Profile
  • Experience with at least one modern backend language or framework (e.g. Ruby Python Node).
  • Solid experience with React JavaScript or TypeScript on the frontend.
  • Ability to collaborate in English (spoken and written) across cross-functional teams.
  • A strong sense of ownership and a mindset focused on outcomes not just delivery.
  • Youre pragmatic: you know when to ship fast and when to raise the quality bar.
  • Youre a team player who thrives in a feedback-driven transparent culture.

At Factorial we dont evaluate you by the years of experience you have we evaluate your knowledge and skills. How We have a Career Path with a rubric framework where we define what is expected for each experience level and skill. This framework allows you to know at which level youre right now and what you need to keep growing. As we love transparency our Career Path includes the salaries for each level and we share it during the first interview to make sure were aligned.
For this mid-level position the annual gross salary is 60.500. This includes a base salary of 55.000 and a variable pay of up to 5.500 annually (paid quarterly) depending on the companys goals.

Your daily life with us

Youll start with a 2 weeks onboarding period where you will:

  1. You will be learning about Factorial our product our team our clients
  2. Pair with each member of the team at least once to see their current initiatives
  3. Solve low-stake bug tickets or quick wins
  4. Commit early and often thanks to our cloud dev environment
  5. Be fully integrated in the teams rituals from day 1

You will be a product engineer taking ownership of big initiatives and being interested in the outcome not just the output. About the outcome youll also work with your team members to establish goals and plan a quarterly roadmap putting special attention to the technical needs of our domain.
You will be involved in customer calls to learn about their pains & needs.
You will review code daily and get feedback on your own code at every pull request from all team members including juniors.
You will learn from the entire team both on technical topics (performance architecture) and core skills in an environment driven by engineering quality. You will also mentor junior team members and help them learn from your experience..

The hiring process

  1. A first conversation with our Talent Acquisition Partner. It will be about comparing our expectations and making sure we match on a human level. We will also check our Engineering Rubrics (check them out they are open!) and the salary in your position.
  2. A second conversation with the teams engineering manager. This is about making sure we can work together. Here you will have a conversation about the team their needs your profile and how can you complement it. Expect to have a mix of a human and technical conversation.
  3. A live coding session focused on your technical skills. Youll be working through a problem in real time and well be looking at how you approach the solution how you write and structure your code and how you reason about trade-offs. Its not about speed or pressure its about your ability to solve problems thoughtfully and communicate your thinking clearly.
  4. One last coffee-chat with our CTO where you can get all the answers about Factorials culture business vision or anything else that interests you.
  5. And thats it! Feel free to request any other conversation you want with team members or to address specific concerns at any time during the process.

The whole process is remote using videoconferencing tools!
