POSITION OVERVIEW
The client seeking a highly skilled Estimator with a background in industrial civil or heavy construction to join their team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate project cost estimates by analyzing drawings specifications and site conditions while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will support pre-construction planning project bidding and cost analysis on a wide range of contract types including lump sum cost-plus design-build and more.
Qualifications & Skills
Degree or diploma in Construction Management Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Professional Designation: . or eligible is highly preferred.
Minimum 5 years in construction estimating with a focus on industrial or heavy civil projects.
Proficient in HeavyBid Microsoft Excel and project scheduling tools.
Solid understanding of BC Building Code MMCD standards and construction contract types.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze project documentation including drawings specifications and geotechnical reports to develop detailed cost estimates.
Conduct quantity take-offs and apply unit costs using HeavyBid and other estimating tools.
Prepare complete bid packages including scope narratives pricing breakdowns and assumptions/exclusions.
Collaborate with project managers engineers and superintendents to validate resource estimates.
Ensure all estimates include accurate allowances for overhead contingency and indirect costs.
Attend project handover meetings to ensure a seamless transition to operations teams.
Provide ongoing cost analysis and benchmarking based on actual project performance.
Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures templates and cost databases.
Build strong working relationships with vendors consultants and project stakeholders.
