Job Description

Job Title:

Lower School & Middle School Physical Education Assistant

Department:

Part-Time 10 months- 185 Service Days

Reports To:

Division Principals

FLSA Status:

Exempt

Position Summary: Legacy Christian Academy is seeking a Christ-centered energetic and dedicated Physical Education Assistant to serve students in both the Lower School (1-4) and Middle School (56). The ideal candidate will assist the physical education coach in teaching through a biblical worldview encouraging students to develop healthy bodies strong character and a love for movement in a way that honors God. This is a part time position (5 days a week 5 hours a day 10:45AM-3:30PM)that will grow into a full time position in the next year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Spiritual Integration:

  • Integrate biblical principles throughout PE instruction.
  • Encourage students to honor God through physical stewardship of their bodies (1 Corinthians 10:31; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
  • Model Christian character and actively participate in the spiritual life of the school.
  • Create a Christ-centered respectful and encouraging environment.

Instructional Duties:

  • Focus on nutrition fitness skill-building teamwork sportsmanship through adevelopmentally appropriate PE lessons for grades 1-6.
  • Adapt lessons for various ages skill levels and learning needs.
  • Use assessment tools to track student progress and communicate results.

Classroom Management & Safety:

  • Maintain a safe orderly and engaging physical education environment.
  • Supervise and ensure proper use of PE equipment and facilities.
  • Uphold school-wide behavioral expectations with consistency and grace.

Community & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with colleagues in both Lower and Middle School divisions.
  • Maintain open professional communication with students families and faculty.
  • Plan and execute field day alongside PE coaches.
  • Participate in school events and professional development.
  • Support the broader mission and values of the school.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Physical Education Health or a related field preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification preferred (state or ACSI).
  • Prior experience teaching PE at the elementary or middle school level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of child development and age-appropriate physical fitness programs.
  • Excellent classroom management communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coach or assist in athletic programs is a plus

Language Ability:

Ability to communicate clearly in written and oral expression; ability to relate effectively with trustees school personnel parents students and other school constituent groups and individuals Read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of students and staff.

Reasoning Ability:

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of school management software; and basic office software.
