How you fit:
The Manager Data Governance is responsible for leading the enterprise-wide data governance strategy ensuring that data is secure accurate and compliant with regulatory and business standards. This role is critical in establishing governance frameworks policies and processes that enhance data integrity and usability across the organization.
The Manager Data Governance will have strong leadership skills and experience in data governance risk management and compliance. They will oversee a team of specialists focused on privacy metadata data lineage and quality assurance ensuring that data is well-managed reliable and supports business decision-making.
What you do:
Data Governance Strategy & Framework Development
- Design and implement a data governance operating model aligning with business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Develop policies procedures and best practices for data stewardship quality and security.
- Establish and enforce data ownership access controls and accountability across business units.
Data Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and protection laws (GDPR CCPA HIPAA etc.).
- Identify and mitigate data-related risks collaborating with Legal IT Security and Risk teams.
- Oversee audits and data governance reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
Metadata & Data Lineage Management
- Implement metadata management and data cataloguing tools (e.g. Collibra Alation).
- Define and maintain data lineage maps to ensure transparency in data movement and transformation.
Data Quality & Integrity Assurance
- Oversee the development of data quality frameworks ensuring accuracy consistency and completeness.
- Define and monitor key data quality metrics (DQIs KPIs SLAs) to ensure adherence to standards.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of governance specialists providing guidance and performance management.
- Foster a culture of data stewardship and compliance awareness across the organization.
- Conduct training and knowledge-sharing initiatives for data governance best practices.
Duties and responsibilities may be adjusted within reasonable limits to meet business needs.
What you need:
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Data Management Information Systems Business or a related field.
Experience & Skills:
- 3 years of experience in data governance compliance or data management.
- Hands-on experience with cloud analytics platforms (e.g. AWS Azure Google Cloud) and modern analytics and governance toolsets.
- Strong knowledge of data governance security and compliance best practices.
- Experience in implementing data stewardship programs data lineage tools and master data management (MDM).
- Familiarity with privacy and security best practices (GDPR CCPA ISO 27001 HIPAA etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to lead a high-performing team.
