Must meet one of the following or any combination of experience/education to meet the qualifications:
Five (5) years of professional experience which included regulatory compliance conducting field inspections and/or enforcement related activities related to environmental protection (This experience must be substantiated within the work history section of your application. OR
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in biology chemistry engineering environmental science geology hydrology or closely related degree ANDone (1) year of professional experience included regulatory compliance conducting field inspections and/or enforcement related activities related to environmental protection (Minimum qualifications)OR
A masters degree from an accredited college or university in biology physical or health science environmental health or closely related degree.(Substitution)The required experience must be substantiated within the work experience section of your application. Preferred Qualifications and Essential Competencies
Experience in drinking water and/or wastewater treatment.
Relevant years of State service shall be considered.
Experience in understanding the requirements specified in Regulation 11.
Operator certification in drinking water and/or distribution system clean water or collection system operation in the State of Colorado.
Demonstrated experience with Word Excel Access and PowerPoint.
Regulatory compliance experience via field-based compliance inspections.
Demonstrated commitment to public and customer service.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to prioritize and plan work activities and maintain organization.
Ability to present ideas accurately effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated work behaviors that reflect an an awareness of the link between job responsibilities and overall organizational goals and needs.
Careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
Excellent listening skills including giving full attention not interrupting and asking questions to fully understand the points being made.
Conditions of Employment
A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process. Felony convictions or convictions of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from being considered for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges and convictions it is your responsibility to provide the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Human Resources office with an official disposition of any charges.
Must be able to operate a vehicle in order to travel and carry out duties of position.
Must be available in the event of an emergency (e.g. bio-terrorist attack chemical attack disease outbreak or all hazards) and be required to report to work immediately at the regular or alternate location. During this time travel restrictions may be in place.
