TITLE: Grade 8-12 STEM Humanities and World Language* Coordinator (* gr. 7-12)REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & InstructionGOAL: To provide quality leadership in the ongoing coordination development supervision and improvement of the general and content-specific pedagogy and instructional programs for Grades 8-12 in order to maximize student achievement. Content areas include: English Math History & Social Sciences Science World Language (GR. 7-12) Business Health/PEMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Masters degree from accredited college/university with a major in relevant educational areaDemonstrates evidence of a strong academic concentration in one or more of the related content areasValid MA Director/Supervisor licenseAt least 5 years of experience in teaching at least one grade-level (gr. 8-12) in one or more of the related content areasAdvanced graduate work in the areas of curriculum development implementation and evaluation preferredStrong technology skills with a range of applications and platforms and proficiency in using student information systemsKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:Works independently to meet deadlines and collaboratively as a team memberFull understanding of best practices and stays current on educational researchExercise sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive informationStrong written and verbal communication skillsGood decision-making and problem solving skills Assist Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction to develop implement monitor and evaluate high school curriculum & professional developmentContributes to a positive and welcome environment for colleagues staff and familiesGENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Under the Supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction coordinate curriculum development and revision efforts with teachers in the departments focusing on aligning the curriculum with the Massachusetts FrameworksCommunicates with parents regarding academic structures that support success in the content areaWorks in conjunction with the building principal on the schedule to determine sections and teaching assignmentsProvides coaching and support opportunities for teachers in the area of classroom instruction assessment curriculum and classroom environment. Observes and evaluates teachers within the respective departmentsWorks in conjunction with Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction and building leadership to plan and deliver professional developmentAssists building leadership teams with the coordination and facilitation of professional learning community groups including NEASC self-study groupsCollects analyzes and disseminates assessment data and guides teachers through analyzing data to inform their instructionIn conjunction with the Curriculum Support Specialists manage and maintain the department budget and keep spending within the allocated budget for each department while making fiscally responsible decisionsSupervises each departments ordering delivery and payment of materials purchased for the departmentsOversee Curriculum Support Specialists to ensures that textbooks supplies and other educational materials are distributed to classroomsKeeps abreast of current research in the area of curriculum development and maintains an active participation with educational leaders in curriculum and instruction at the state regional and national levelAnalyzes curriculum instruction and assessment through the lens of equity and inclusivityPerform other duties as assigned by Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & InstructionSUPERVISES: Curriculum Support Specialists Classroom TeachersTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Outlined in the Billerica Administrator Group Collective Bargaining AgreementAn equal opportunity employer in compliance with Title IX Chapter 622 and Section 504.
