Job Description
Job Summary
The High School Speech and Debate Coach is responsible for leading and mentoring a team of students in competitive speech and debate activities. The coach will develop students public speaking critical thinking and argumentation skills preparing them for tournaments and fostering a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and conduct regular practice sessions to prepare students for speech and debate competitions.
Teach techniques for effective public speaking argumentation and delivery across various event categories (e.g. extemporaneous speaking Lincoln-Douglas debate policy debate).
Provide individualized feedback to help students improve their performance.
Select appropriate events for students based on their strengths and interests.
Organize team logistics including tournament registration travel and scheduling.
Foster a positive inclusive team culture that promotes teamwork confidence and respect.
Stay updated on national and regional speech and debate rules and trends.
