What You Will Achieve
In this role you will:
Interpret recommend and ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulations and company policies.
Plan modifications to physical facilities to meet new environmental standards and assist in preparing contracts for licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms.
Oversee waste handling organize spill-control teams and update environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures.
Periodically review work mentor colleagues and use judgment to modify methods and techniques.
Engage in regulatory inspections and inquiries related to environmental health and safety issues and evaluate risks to create feasible and cost-effective control alternatives.
Coordinate and report essential details concerning Environment Health & Safety management and performance parameters and support waste management services in compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
Train individuals with training responsibilities conduct site inspections recommend and implement corrective actions develop MHI awareness training packages maintain knowledge of relevant databases and participate in capital project teams.
Here Is What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
High school diploma (or equivalent) with 8 years of experience or associates degree with 6 years of experience or BA/BS with 2 years of experience or MBA/MS with any years of relevant experience
Proven EHS experience showcasing proficiency in waste characterization and identification
Demonstrated expertise in Environment Health & Safety particularly in local applications
Solid understanding of wastewater treatment systems including equalization and neutralization
Excellent interpersonal skills creativity in problem-solving and flexibility
Good written and oral communication abilities
Proficiency in computer operations and experience with MS Office especially Word Excel and Outlook
Bonus Points If You Have (Preferred Requirements)
Background in the pharmaceutical industry
Experience in applying Department of Transportation and International Air Transport Association (IATA) Hazardous Materials shipping regulations
Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape
Ability to navigate complex shipping requirements effectively
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong leadership and mentoring skills
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform field observations which could involve walking or standing on uneven terrain squatting bending twisting turning and reaching above shoulder height and work in various climates from extreme cold to heat.
Able to lift and carry minimum 25 lbs. occasionally.
Able to stand or walk for periods of 8 hours or more.
Able to meet deadlines both internally and externally.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Pfizer Rocky Mount is a 24/7 operation.
Work is primarily Monday through Friday but schedule flexibility is required i.e. ability to participate in occasional off-shift meeting project planning meetings and occasional night and weekend work.
Ability to support site during unplanned or emergency events is required.
Work Location Assignment:On Premise colleagues work in a Pfizer site because its needed to get their job done. They may have flexibility to work remotely from time to time but they are primarily on-site.
