Job Description

Overview

A stipended role for the Center for AI under the guidance of the Chief Public Affairs & Development Officer. The AI Education & Ethics Lead is a leadership role dedicated to advancing IMSAs mission to develop ethically informed critically engaged and AI-literate students. This role focuses on developing comprehensive learning outcomes for AI education guiding ethical engagement with AI technologies and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration across the Academy. The Lead will design initiatives that ensure all IMSA students engage with AI not only as a technical tool but as a subject of ethical social and critical inquiry. Through faculty engagement policy development and instructional leadership the Lead will promote responsible and equitable integration of AI within IMSAs academic and residential learning environments. This position is expected to work approximately 10 hours/week.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop AI Learning Outcomes
  • Design and articulate comprehensive AI learning outcomes that ensure every IMSA student engages meaningfully with AI concepts applications and ethical considerations.
  • Align learning outcomes with IMSAs broader educational mission and vision for innovative equity-focused learning.

  1. Promote Ethical AI Engagement
  • Champion the integration of ethical AI perspectives in all academic contexts.
  • Ensure accessibility equity and responsibility are core values in AI-related initiatives.
  • Position AI as a subject of critical inquiry emphasizing its societal cultural and ethical implications.

  1. Develop Classroom Guidance on AI Use
  • Lead the creation of Academy-wide AI usage guidelines using a Green Light Yellow Light Red Light framework.
  • Provide clear expectations and boundaries for ethical AI use among students and faculty.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership to ensure consistent implementation.
  • Partner with IMSA community members to develop and propose a comprehensive Board policy on the ethical and academic use of AI technologies.

  1. Lead Faculty Engagement
  • Organize and facilitate faculty discussion groups and professional development workshops focused on AI literacy ethics and instructional integration.
  • Promote the availability of AI certification programs for faculty and staff to build capacity and confidence in ethical AI practices.

  1. Model Ethical AI Use
  • Serve as a role model for ethical AI use through mentorship and daily practice.
  • Complete a recognized certification in AI Ethics or Responsible AI as part of ongoing professional development.
  • Share learnings and best practices with the IMSA community.

In addition to the individual responsibilities outlined below the AI Education and Ethics Lead attends regular AI Lead Team Meetings

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Completion (or willingness to complete) a recognized certification in AI Ethics Responsible AI or a similar credential within the first six months in the role.
  • Experience in instructional leadership or curriculum development with evidence of successful faculty and/or student engagement.
  • Strong understanding of AI technologies capabilities limitations and societal impact.
  • Deep knowledge of ethical principles frameworks and debates surrounding AI including but not limited to fairness transparency accountability privacy and bias.
  • Ability to articulate and apply AI-related ethical and critical thinking skills in educational settings.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams or initiatives and work collaboratively across academic disciplines.
  • Experience facilitating professional development sessions faculty workshops or discussion groups.
  • Capacity to inspire and guide students faculty and staff in ethical technology use and inquiry.
  • Experience developing institutional policies or guidelines ideally related to academic integrity technology use or digital literacy.
  • Ability to engage productively with IMSA leadership educators students and community members to drive shared understanding and policy adoption.
  • Demonstrated dedication to promoting ethical accessible and critically engaged uses of technology in education.

Compensation: This position pays a stipend of $16000 for the 25-26 school year. It is not benefits eligible. At the end of the school year we will reevaluate if this position will continue into the following school year.
