Responsibilities and Duties Include:
Assists with instruction of students with disabilities as assigned.
Provides instructional assistance as planned/coordinated by the teacher including leading small group activities.
Assists the teacher(s) in preparing and adapting materials and equipment for direct instructional activity and to meet the needs of students including copying collating distributing and/or grouping materials.
Examines short- and long-term unit plans prepared by the teacher and anticipates the need for specific supplies/materials.
Assists with student screening assessment supervision and specialized instruction/training. This includes management of computer-assisted instruction.
Performs selected health procedures for students after completing training may include administering medication gastronomy tube feeding clean intermittent bladder catheterization or any health procedure.
Maintains expertise in assigned area by participating in training activities/programs.
Maintains the security of records materials and equipment and adhere to applicable safety standards.
Assists in maintaining a clean and orderly instructional environment including enforcing classroom rules.
Performs assigned clerical and bookkeeping duties including preparing required reports and maintaining updated and accurate records.
Communicates effectively with the public staff members students parents administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgement.
Responds to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
Identifies potential problems or opportunities for improvement keeping supervisor informed.
Adheres to Academy of Science and Technology policies and procedures.
Follows attendance punctuality and proper dress rules.
Complies with all published College Rules procedures guidelines and laws/regulations governing public employees including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction FERPA and confidentiality.
Strictly honors the privacy security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state federal and college regulations policies and procedures.
Provides service excellence through courteous informed accessible and professional engagement.
Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required: A high school diploma or equivalent. 60 semester hours of college credit from an approved accredited educational institution OR have completed and passed an Educational Testing Service Praxis Parapro Assessment.
Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.
Preferred:Experience working with middle or high school aged children
