Job Description:
Our vision is to offer undergraduate and masters students an engaging and thought-provoking learning experience while impacting our business in a meaningful way by:
- PROJECTS: Interns are spread throughout our businesses. Each intern manager will provide intentional learning objective goals and assign real-life projects to own and drive during the summer
- SUPPORT: Each intern will be paired up with a mentor who will provide guidance support and insight into The PB Way!
- PAY: The wage for this position is $24 per hour.
- JOB OFFERS: The intern program may only last 10-weeks June 9th - August 18th but we dont want the experience to end there. Our top interns are often offered extended internships or future job opportunities at Pitney Bowes
The Mechanical Engineering Department is responsible for the architecture design development engineering test and support of manufacturing lines for SendTech Products Worldwide. These products comprise Electro/Mechanical subsystems which perform complicated tasks involving mechanisms system timing processing of a large array of materials and the protection of customers funds in the form of Postage. Pitney Bowes provides products that yield high customer value and has continued to grow and innovate for over one hundred years. While working in a team environment Interns can gain a large amount of exposure to electro-mechanical and systems-based equipment. At Pitney Bowes Engineers are involved in the whole development process from concept all the way into customer offices.
This will be an on-site opportunity at our Shelton Connecticut facility.
Job Tasks:
- Part design
- Documentation
- Part fabrication
- Inspection of components
- Test rig setup
- Test
- Data analysis and summary
- Direct input into design development
- Design reviews
- Concept build
- System debug
- Root cause failure analysis
- Interfacing and implementing input from outside teams such as service and manufacturing

About You
We take pride in our internship programs. Many participants will choose to continue with Pitney Bowes upon graduation. Our selection process is therefore focused on the highest quality candidates that demonstrate a rigorous academic curriculum as well as having established themselves with authentic projects pursued in and outside the classroom. As a Mechanical Engineering intern you have:
- Exposure to 3D Modeling (preferably Creo)
- Familiarity with Part/Assembly design and documentation (a plus)
- Proficient in MS products like Word and Excel
- Data acquisition/analysis and capable of summarizing results
- Root cause analysis of design issues
- Good debug and test skills
