The Houston studio of SWA is seeking a Landscape Architect with 5-7 years of professional experience and a strong interest or background in project management. This position focuses on the full lifecycle of master planned community projects from concept through construction with an emphasis on managing design production schedules and budgets.
The ideal candidate will bring a balance of creative design thinking and strong organizational skills with the ability to guide project teams interface with clients and ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full management of project design production schedules and budgets across large-scale residential community developments.
- Provide daily guidance to production staff including quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of construction drawings and design documentation.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with clients consultants and regulatory officials ensuring alignment at all project stages.
- Coordinate internal and external project teams including engineers architects and specialty consultants.
- Support construction administration staff during bidding review of RFIs and construction document clarifications.
- Develop high-quality graphic presentations and technical documentation to support design intent.
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes local ordinances and industry standards.
Technical Experience:
- Proven experience in design development and documentation of a wide range of planned community elements including:
- Streetscapes and pedestrian trails
- Open space reserves such as lakes prairies and meadows
- Neighborhood parks and greenways
- Monuments signage and entry features
- Community recreation centers including playgrounds swimming pools and splash pads
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program.
- 5-7 years of professional experience in landscape architecture with project management or coordination responsibilities.
- Experience in large-scale residential or master planned communities is highly preferred.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop InDesign Illustrator) and SketchUp; Lumion Rhino and D5 experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of planting design grading and construction detailing.
- Strong written verbal and visual communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a collaborative fast-paced studio environment.
- Licensure or progress toward licensure is preferred but not required.
