Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to support the City ofMontgomerys Information Technology Security Operations by monitoringanalyzing and responding to cybersecurity threats. The work responsibilitiesinclude ensuring the security integrity and availability of the Citysnetwork systems and data by identifying vulnerabilities enforcing securitypolicies and assisting with incident response. This role conducts securityaudits monitors security events and collaborates with IT teams andthird-party vendors to ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards. Theposition also plays a key role in investigating security incidents providingsecurity awareness training and supporting the implementation of securitycontrols and best practices. This classification reports to an IT Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Abachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Cybersecurityor a related field and four (4) years of experience in IT security cybersecurityoperations or network security including experience monitoring securitysystems analyzing threats and responding to incidents; familiarity withcompliance standards such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology(NIST) and ISO 27001; and proficiency with security information and eventmanagement (SIEM) tools firewalls and endpoint security solutions.

NOTE:Qualifyingeducationtraining and experience thatprovide the requisite knowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

CERTIFICATION PREFERENCE:Preferred certifications include CertifiedInformation Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certified InformationSecurity Manager (CISM) Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) GIACSecurity Essentials (GSEC) Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate Cisco CertifiedNetwork Associate Security (CCNA Security) and Cisco Meraki networking certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate(CCNA) Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security and FortinetNetwork Security Expert (NSE) certifications are also preferred.

Special Requirements

Must be willing towork at night or during weekends as be able to connect to the network from home through VPN or dial-upto provide emergency recovery using City of Montgomery-supplied IT equipmentor reports to work during non-business hours as appropriate. Employees are strongly encouraged to achievecertifications. This position requires a valid motor vehicleoperators license to operate a motor vehicle.
