Job Summary

PSEG is looking for an Intern for the Project Origination Asset Reliability

This job involves working as a Technical Intern.

This position will be Hybrid South Plainfield

Job Responsibilities

Assignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:


Support the Utility Business Plan with pipeline projects by providing engineering support for feasibility studies - work with Corporate Real Estate Licensing & Permitting Engineering Environmental and other Stakeholders to develop engineered solutions.
Participate in team substation site visits and training sessions to review engineering drawings (i.e. one-line control drawings general arrangements bus plans foundation plans etc.)
Learn basic fundamentals of transmission and distribution substation equipment
Perform 2D layout designs 3D modelling design Building Information Modeling (BIM) Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) projects
Training on drawing and modeling in Microstation Connect. Create and manipulate a substation in 3D using Microstation Connect
Learn how to use VR software and apply it to an ongoing engineering project
Develop a time-lapse video to highlight part-making with a 3D printer
Develop 3D parts for Project Originations substation equipment library
Print a station using 3D printer
Plot a station in both augmented and virtual reality and apply metadata to components
Conduct a station review meeting utilizing AR and/or VR
Develop presentation and video brochure for final presentation
Shadow another AMCS intern in the program and present on what they learned

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Education/Skills: The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a Bachelors or Masters Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidates must have completed sophomore level course work for consideration.

Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG locations a valid drivers license and a safe driving record is required.


Preferred:

  • 3.0 GPA
  • Interest in electric utility


All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate however there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing transportation and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
