- Fleet Service WriterThe City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome a Fleet Service Writer to the Support Services team! As a Fleet Service Writer you willsupport the inhouse fleet vehicle repairs and maintenance operations by performing vehicle intake procedures such as communicating with the customer conducting inspections auditing maintenance records and service schedules and taking test drives. Youll develop work order for technicians with detailed information such as symptoms causes and repairs or services required.Benefits Offered:

Job Type:Full-time; exempt
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 6:00AM - 3:00PM
Annual Salary: $59370.12 - $71272.66
As a Fleet Service Writer you will:- Assess damage or performance issues with City vehicles and facilitates emergency repairs or preventative maintenance
- Communicate with each customer to create detailed reports describing customers description of problems vehicles maintenance and repair history and results of inspections or test drives
- Use reports to develop work orders for technicians which include suggested further inspections required repairs or services and projected costs
- Inspects the quality of service and workmanship of fleet maintenance services and investigates repairs to ensure they are coded correctly
- Schedules fleet vehicle repairs reconciles work orders and processes invoices for payment
- Coordinates the scheduled services with customers outside of the fleet services team
- Enters data into fleets computer system and updates data in the computer system regarding repairs and maintenance
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:Knowledge of:- Fleet preventative maintenance programs
- Vehicle design specification construction and operation
- Automotive body glass and interior repairs
- Parts equipment and supplies used in the repair and maintenance of automotive vehicles and equipment
Ability to:- Follow written and oral instructions
- Work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees other agencies and the public
- Use effective clear concise communication and interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers supervisors and the public ensuring clear exchange of information and receiving guidance on work tasks
- Balance City and customer needs
- Produce quality accurate prompt and reliable results

Minimum Qualifications
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
- Two years of professional full-time experience in service writing automotive repair industry or a related field
- Possess or obtain upon hire and maintain a valid non-probationary Colorado drivers license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Possess or obtain within 12 months of hire date Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Automobile Service Consultant (C1) Certification

- Writing:Intermediate - Ability to write reports prepare business letters expositions and summaries with proper format punctuation spelling grammar using all parts of speech. Ordinarily such education is obtained in high school up to college. However it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
- Fiscal Responsibility:This classification prepares accounting budget and employment actions purchasing documents and does research to justify language used in documents. May recommend budget allocations.
- Physical Demands:Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally; 10-25 lbs. frequently; or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
