The Smart Agriculture Research Center in the Office of Research and Innovation at the University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a faculty position with Rank of Professor of Research in Academic Professional Track. University of Texas at Arlington ( UTA ) has experienced fast growth in recent years in developing data tools and technologies that can be used to benefit agriculture. This presents an exciting opportunity for UTA to establish a smart agriculture research center at a pivotal time. The research will focus on AI and Data driven and technology driven research for agriculture and natural resource conservation. The centers activities and funding will fuel faculty and research excellence while supporting the growth of the new center and providing students with life-changing opportunities for educational and career success in STEM fields and beyond. To ensure the success of the research UTA invites nominations and applications of a world-class faculty member to develop funding opportunities research activities and outreach to agriculture communities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Define and execute a strategic vision of the smart agriculture research center. Recruit qualified students into the Smart Agriculture Research Center. Perform and guide smart agriculture-related research. Form the Advisory Committee of the Smart Agriculture Research Center. Cultivate relationships with industry partners and federal agencies.
Required Qualifications
An earned PhD in agricultural engineering or a related field and a combined mentoring research and scholarly accomplishments commensurate with the rank of professor of research. A distinguished record of scholarly research with high levels of recognition for technical contributions and leadership in the area(s) of expertise. Strong skills and ability to define and execute a strategic vision. A commitment to support a high-quality learning environment that is dedicated to student success. Experience driving engagement and recruitment efforts. The ability to cultivate relationships with industry partners and federal funders. Experience guiding and encouraging research activities. Exceptional organizational interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building collaborations with others across disciplines. The ability to elevate research excellence in alignment with UTAs strategic goals.
