Description

Reporting to the Senior Consultant of Return to Work this position plays a vital role in leading the organization to best in class performance requiring a significant departure from the status quo. Creative and innovative thinking is required to develop best practices and continuously improve improve our RTW Program. This position may reside close to or in any of the following locations: Richmond or Calgary. Purolator operates on a hybrid work model this role included.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the RTW Specialist include but are not limited to:

  • Acts as the subject matter expert for Purolators Return to Work (RTW) Program relating to occupational injuries and/or illnesses
  • Provides guidance on Workers Compensation (WCB) disability management return-to-work and accommodations ensuring operational compliance with legislation and regulations corporate policies and procedures
  • Liaises with various provincial Workers Compensation Boards along with external stakeholders to provide effective claims management to improve Purolators return to work outcomes and cost containment efforts
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to ensure the prompt and effective preparation of individual employee return to work plans monitor progress and resolve RTW obstacles
  • Oversees reporting and tracking of all workplace injuries in Purolators Health and Safety system
  • Develops a variety of narrative and statistical reports; evaluate workers compensation costs trends and report on the overall effectiveness of the RTW program
  • Shares best practices and recommendations to modify existing operational procedures reporting metrics and occupational accommodation and return to work procedures
  • Fosters an atmosphere of collaboration and trust among all workplace parties

Education

  • University degree preferably in health care social science or related discipline
  • Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC) preferred

Experience

  • 2-3 years of demonstrated experience in claims & disability management
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Previous experience in a unionized environment preferred
  • Valid provincial drivers license travel is required
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word
