Reports To:Allison Zelkowitz CUBIC Director
Contract Type: Consultancy : Requires 138 days of work per year or on average 3 days per week (assuming 6 weeks of non-working time per year).

OVERVIEW:
Background:
CUBIC currently includes 11 team members based in North America South America Europe Africa and Asia thus requiring strong remote communication and collaboration skills. The Part-time New Business Development and Communications Consultant will develop strong working relationships with Save the Children Country Offices SC Members and Save the Children International staff and will need to be comfortable promoting CUBICs work to external stakeholders including the communities we serve governments and donors.
Overall Objective: New Business Development and Communications Consultant is to lead CUBICs new business development (NBD) work and external communications. The consultant will take the lead in identifying potential internal and external funding opportunities (corporate foundations institutional) for CUBICs work and develop and submit concept notes and proposals in collaboration with Save the Children Country Office and Member staff. In addition the Consultant will lead CUBICs communications work including creating case studies and briefs and driving our social media engagement; the position holder will also supervise a Graphic Designer and at least one communications intern.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in International Development Communications Non-Profit Management Social or Behavioral Science or a related field.
Experience developing fundraising strategies and identifying new leads that evolved into acquired resources.
Experience developing concept notes remote pitches and proposals for winning bids
Track record of securing grant funding from foundations corporations and institutional donors
Ability to develop positive and productive working relationships both internally as well as with other Save the Children colleagues (Members SCI Regional Offices etc.)
Strong personal management and organizational skills that keep pieces of work moving forward
Interest in behavioral science or human behavior in general
Professional fluency in written and spoken English is required while proficiency in Arabic French or Spanish is a plus.
Experience and Skills
At least 5 years experience and expertise in new business development fundraising and communications.
Flexible self-motivated able to manage multiple tasks team members and projects efficiently and a team player.
Ability to succeed detailed oriented drive initiatives and collaborate via a remote working structure.
Excellent management organizational and interpersonal skills.
Fluency and excellent communication and writing skills with a mastery of English.
Prior experience working in the Global South would be preferred.
Main Deliverables:
1. Identify potential internal and external funding opportunities both upcoming calls for proposals as well as donors who could be approached bilaterally
2. Maintain our pipeline of prospective donors through ongoing research and donor profiling
3. Develop concept notes pitch presentations and proposals in collaboration with CUBIC and related SC Country Offices and Members.
4. Proactively reach out to Save the Childrens fundraising team members to discuss CUBIC and potential opportunities and also initiate and support engagement with other Members fundraising teams focusing on both internal and external funding opportunities.
5. Build the visibility of CUBIC within Save the Children through engagement with key stakeholders across the movement.
6. Increase CUBICs external engagement and profile via implementation of our communications strategy including social media engagement website and identifying external speaking opportunities such as conferences and webinars.
7. In collaboration with with our Graphic Designer and communications interns lead the development of case studies stories videos and impact briefs about CUBICs work and disseminate to internal and external audiences
8. Contribute to CUBICs organizational development and management via active participation in bi-monthly meetings consulting with teams senior leaders as well as leading on the annual update of CUBICs business development strategy.
