seeking an exceptional Chemistry Lab Coordinator for 15 hours/week. This position supports the
instructional operations of the Chemistry courses by managing laboratory operations maintaining
chemical inventories ensuring safety compliance and assisting faculty and students in the preparation
and delivery of laboratory courses. This position has significant safety and chemical hygiene
requirements and will work to ensure proper and legal management of chemicals and waste.
Responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:
Prepare and set up materials and equipment for undergraduate Chemistry lab courses
Manage inventory of chemicals glassware and instrumentation
Oversee safe handling storage and disposal of chemical waste
Ensure compliance with safety standards
Maintain laboratory instruments and coordinate repairs or calibration as needed
Train and supervise Chemistry work study student workers
Maintain lab documentation and safety records (SDS training logs etc.)
Assist in budget planning and procurement of supplies and equipment
Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization
Maintains detailed working knowledge of all assigned lab procedures as they relate to sample
preparation safety guidelines and waste disposal
Other duties as may be assigned by the Academic Affairs office
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from an accredited institution
o Masters in Chemistry strongly preferred
Knowledge of chemical safety protocols and regulatory compliance
Experience with common Chemistry lab instruments and techniques
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Certification in chemical hygiene or hazardous waste management
Ability to carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision
Participation in the development and implementation of lab goals and objectives
Previous teaching or instructional lab experience in an academic setting
Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
The ability to foster a positive work culture that encourages change and innovation
