Overview
At CHI Health CUMC-Bergan Mercy our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body mind and spirit of every person in a more comfortable less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services heart and vascular care emergency services surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging.
Responsibilities
- Compounds and dispenses medications. Interprets medication orders and/or prescriptions for drug interactions appropriate drug selection and appropriateness. Accurately enters the order or prescription into computer system labels and dispenses medications in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates ability to document clinical activities and interventions such as consults patient teachings and other patient specific information as defined by policy and procedure.
- Verifies and checks medications prepared by other pharmacy personnel.
- Communicates drug information to patients and health professionals. Resolves drug related problems by consulting with other health care professional to achieve appropriate patient outcomes. Unclear orders written by a physician are clarified with a physician. Assists the physician in appropriate drug selection and therapeutic regimens.
- Achieves and maintains an adequate basic knowledge base to provide clinical services for all age groups served. Provides basic clinical services as required by policy and procedure.
- Maintains a working knowledge of automated systems
- Responsible for technician activities and performance. Provides direction and guidance as needed.
- Participates in the orientation instruction and training of pharmacy students and interns pharmacy technicians residents pharmacists and other health professionals.
- Performs duties in documented accordance with requirements of all regulatory and governing bodies. Mandatory education from a system and department level is completed.

Qualifications
Required Education for Staff Job Levels
A B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
Required Licensure and Certifications
NE Pharmacist License
Required Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Must possess strong knowledge of Pharmacy Services; knowledgeable and skilled in current practice concepts of nursing home community pharmacy service and home I.V. Therapy; strong knowledge of applicable laws regulations guidelines and professional standards; strong project management skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
