Job Description

This position is responsible to define develop implement manage and continuously improve the technical training strategy processes and procedures for the site with special emphasis on On-the-Job Training (OJT). A primary objective is to work with leadership to identify and address employee and organizational training needs and ensure effective technical training programs are in place to enable the achievement of desired business results. This management position directs and leads the technical training staff to ensure employees are adequately trained and able to comply with performance standards.

Your Day to Day:

  • Evaluates develops and implements training and development programs focused on building depth of qualified employees in the organization
  • Organize and implement technical training to support business training needs
  • Facilitate discussions with business leaders to prioritize and improve training initiatives
  • Drive consistent implementation of Systematic Approach to Training and the OJT process
  • Participate in industry benchmarking and implement self-assessment activities to drive continual improvement in training programs
  • Observe enforce and coach personnel conducting training to ensure high quality training standards are maintained
  • Actively participate in the Corrective Action Program to drive improvements and ensure proper utilization of training as a solution
  • Direct local needs assessments and analysis process
  • Promote use of systematic approach to training
  • Support managers in training program gap identification and resolution
  • Facilitate efforts to identify and resolve knowledge and skill gaps; prioritize actions and develop the training plans
  • Facilitate training and utilization of subject matter experts for delivery of technical training
  • Manage financial resources to support training initiatives
  • Maintain metrics for area of responsibility
  • Ensure the function has the technical expertise bench strength and leadership/change management skills necessary to supportthe Columbia Fuel Operations

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelors degree. BS/BA in Education Adult Learning Business or Engineering/Physical Science preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience; Minimum 2 years management experience
  • Thorough knowledge of systematic approach to training and the application in a manufacturing facility prefer nuclear fuel manufacturing
  • Detailed understanding of the OJT process
  • Experience managing/leading teams
  • Background and knowledge of management principles practices and concepts
  • Excellent communication presentation and negotiation skills
  • Superior analytical and problem- solving capability; exceptional communication organization and leadership ability
  • Strong business acumen
