SUMMARY
The Drill Instructor (D.I.) Assists in supervising students assigned to the Alternative Education Program and performs responsible physical exercises and drilling of students including disciplinary guidance and security work which may sometimes be hazardous while supervising daily youth activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
GED or high school diploma
Some college preferred
EXPERIENCE:
One year experience in supervisory or management position
Four years military experience
Drill Instructor experience preferred
CERTIFICATES LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS
As required by the State of Texas

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to speak fluently in both English and Spanish. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before administrators staff students parents and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to walk and stand reach with hands and arm and stoop kneel crouch or crawl for prolonged periods of time. The employee is frequently required to sit talk and hear. Light to moderate lifting is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance color vision and the ability to adjust focus. This job requires the ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.
The employee must maintain emotional control under stress.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment in quiet to moderate depending upon the activity being conducted.
