Job Description

Two positions availabe: High School and Middle School

TITLE:Student Services Coordinator

POSITION TYPE:SPEC

HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:


Required:

  1. Valid Iowa teaching endorsement in special education or Statement of Professional Recognition.
  2. Evaluator Approval from the Board of Educational Examiners.
  3. Masters Degree in education or related field.
  4. Five or more years of experience in a school setting as a school counselor school social worker special education consultant instructional strategist coach school psychologist speech language pathologist occupational or physical therapist or building administrator.

Desired:

  1. Iowa administratorlicense
  2. Experienceconsulting/coaching schools and/or school teams.
  3. Experienceworking with community organizations and partners.

BASIC FUNCTION:

To ensure the academic physical and emotional growth of children and youth by assisting school sites in building their capacity to meet the needs of the whole child. Responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management of the District Integrated Services framework including but not limited to network support regarding integrated services teaming and building implementation. Responsible for data collection/compliance in relationship to MTSS and specifically Integrated Services. Collaboratively designs implements and monitors professional development for Tiers 1 2 3 and Integrated Services building teams. Works closely with district administration school administration special education administration/staff and integrated services support staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Support and monitor multi-disciplinary teams at the district and building level (Tiered Fidelity Inventory Team Meeting Fidelity).
  2. Provide and/or facilitate quality professional development at all three tiers (universal secondary and tertiary).
  3. Evaluate Integrated Services staff members as assigned.
  4. In coordination with the District SEL Coordinator lead the implementation of the District SEL plan.
  5. Stay current and support the Integrated Services staff in special education policies rules and regulations and disseminate information accordingly.
  6. Demonstrate a clear understanding and a working knowledge of special education due process requirements including the support of child study teams as they perform child find.
  7. Develop and provide training monitoring and ongoing support in the implementation of Section 504.
  8. Develop and provide training monitoring and ongoing support in the implementation of Chapter 103 (restraint and seclusion).
  9. Develop and provide training monitoring and ongoing support in the implementation of Iowa Code 280.28 (bullying and harassment).
  10. Develop and implement district level infrastructure to support data collection and analysis related to district goals.
  11. Ability to navigate and integrate the use of the district technology infrastructure (hardware software and electronic systems).
  12. 1Develop collaborative relationships with district departments and community stakeholders.
  13. Highly organized efficient and able to coordinate/navigate multiple tasks and systems daily.
  14. Self-directed reflective and responsive to feedback.
  15. Participate in regional statewide and national leadership conferences and meetings.

ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position):

  1. Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
  2. Maintain confidentiality.
  3. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public students and other employees.
  4. Assist with other duties as may be assigned
