Job Description
Position Summary:
Washington County Public Schools is seeking a qualified and motivated professional to serve as a Special Services Liaison. This vital role supports the coordination and implementation of special education services by working directly with students families school staff and community partners. The Liaison will facilitate eligibility processes support smooth transitions for students with special needs and assist in the development of individualized education programming.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Virginia Teaching License or Virginia Pupil Personnel Services License
- Preferred: Endorsement in Administration and Supervision
- Preferred: Prior experience in special education or related services
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including families students school personnel and community agency representatives
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive educational history interviews as part of the eligibility determination process
- Coordinate Transition Team meetings with students families community agencies and school personnel to support post-secondary planning
- Serve as chairperson and/or LEA and prepare minutes for Eligibility meetings
- Represent the school division in community multidisciplinary teams as assigned by the Supervisor of Special Services
- Conduct student observations and collect relevant data to inform educational decisions
- Collaborate with the Supervisor of Special Services and school teams to support individualized student needs
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with state and federal regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Special Services
- Meet performance goals and benchmarks as part of the annual performance evaluation process
Position Effective:August 12025
Contract Length: 11-Month (220 Days)
