Job Description

BAND TEACHER AT MOSES LAKE HIGH SCHOOL

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Music/Band Educator is responsible for developing and leading a dynamic and inclusive music program that inspires student engagement musical excellence and personal growth. This position encompasses the instruction of Band Percussion Jazz Band Keyboard Theory and small ensembles while also fostering leadership opportunities and a passion for music. The educator will plan and prepare students for concerts festivals and state-level competitions maintain effective communication with stakeholders and collaborate with faculty feeder schools and booster organizations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong musicianship organizational skills and a commitment to student success within a positive and structured learning environment. Additionally they will uphold district values and policies actively contribute to curriculum development and participate in professional growth activities. This role requires a proactive collaborative and student-centered professional who is dedicated to creating a vibrant music culture within the school and broader community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Valid Washington State Teacher certification.
  2. Major in music education or K-12 music endorsement.
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable.

DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES

  1. To communicate effectively with students parents community and staff.
  2. Woodwind Jazz or Percussion background preferred.
  3. To work effectively with children of varying academic emotional social and physical needs.
  4. To work primarily with children in the secondary grades 9-12.
  5. Knowledge of high school band literature and repertoire.
