The Network Operations Technicians role is to support the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes installing configuring maintaining monitoring and supporting network hardware software and communication links. The person will also assist in analyzing and resolving end-user hardware/software issues and network-related problems in a timely and accurate :- Education/Certification: Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred but not required- 2-3 years of equivalent work experience in network support- Certifications like CompTIA Network or vendor-specific hardware certifications (e.g. Fortinet Aruba Ruckus) are a plus. - Knowledge and Experience: Proficient in configuring managing and maintaining network equipment including: HP/Aruba switches Ruckus Access Points Aruba core switches Infoblox Networking equipment and Fortigate Firewalls. RESPONSIBILITIES:- Strategy & Planning- Assist with network documentation and contribute to capacity planning by providing relevant data. - Implement and maintain network policies and procedures as directed. Assist with documentation for end-users regarding appropriate use and basic troubleshooting. - Adhere to established service level agreements with end users and report on service delivery. - Acquisition & Deployment- Perform installation configuration maintenance and troubleshooting of network-connected end-user workstation hardware software and peripheral devices. - Interact with vendors for product information and support as needed under the guidance of senior staff.- Assist in researching network products services protocols and standards as requested. - Operational Management- Assist in managing and monitoring security solutions including firewalls anti-virus and intrusion detection systems following established procedures. - Install configure and maintain all network hardware and equipment including routers switches access points and UPS devices. - Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.- Perform equipment hardware and software upgrades as scheduled and directed. - Practice network asset management including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.- Administer and maintain end user network access rights and permissions. - Assist with server and security audits by gathering information and performing checks as directed. - Perform system backups according to schedule using tools like Datto and assist with recovery procedures.- Monitor network performance identify issues and provide performance statistics and reports to senior staff. - Perform scheduled network maintenance improvements upgrades and repairs. Report needs for unscheduled repairs or potential improvements. - Assist with network enhancements as directed.- Assist with the network integration of auxiliary equipment including: HVAC Cameras Phone Systems Access Control Systems Intercom and other systems which rely heavily on network connectivity.- Basic understanding of Cyber Security principles and assist with monitoring and security of systems under supervision. - Assist in maintaining local and cloud-hosted systems applications and network configurations. Support SQL server environments as needed.- Troubleshoot network performance issues.- Assist in executing and maintaining the disaster recovery plan. - Report on needed upgrades patches and assist in evaluating new applications and equipment under supervision. - Assist in configuring and maintaining Spam & Malware Filtering systems.- Basic knowledge of encryption viruses spam and malware and assist in response efforts.- Create and maintain inventories for hardware software and maintenance.- Perform regular network and database backups and assist with restoration procedures. - Efficiently support all staff and students with technical issues in a professional and pleasant manner.- Hands-on hardware troubleshooting & maintenance experience.- Able to understand and contribute to the organizations IT goals and objectives.- Awareness of applicable data privacy practices and laws and ability to follow related procedures.- Label and document all network components.- Perform such other duties as may be reasonably requested by the district admin REQUIREMENTS:- Must have the ability to move about between district locations and/or inside/outside the vehicle.- The person in this position must have the ability to effectively communicate accurate information to staff and community members.- Strong written and oral communication skills.- Strong interpersonal skills.- Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.- Highly self-motivated and directed.- Keen attention to detail.- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.- On-call availability for emergencies with support from senior staff. - Sitting for extended periods of time.- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard mouse power tools and to handle other computer inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.- Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects roughly 50 pounds such as computers servers racks in cabinets and peripherals.
