The school nurse not only provides for the safety and care of students and staff but also addresses the need for integrating health solutions into the education school nurse provides acute chronic episodic and emergency health care to all students within the South Hadley Public Schools Performance Responsibilities: health assessments including mandated health and implements Individual Health Care daily and PRN medications to students with accompanying physician orders.4. Provides direct care and refers as needed in the event of acute illness injury and/or emotional disturbances5. Provides early detection and reports communicable and contagious diseases6. Provides health information to assist students and families and staff in making health-related as a resource person to school personnel8. Oversees the implementation of Massachusetts Department of Public Health policies and participates in activities related to the Essential School Health Services Grant9. Is responsible for maintaining and updating cumulative electronic health records10. Assists in the development and revision of school health policies procedures and standing orders11. Orders supplies for the health room annually12. Maintains communication with the principal and superintendent on health related issues.13. Attends professional development related to the care of school children as per licensing mandates14. Trains staff in emergency procedures EpiPen use universal precautions and other health- related issues
