OF ASSIGNMENT

Speech Language Pathologistprovide assessments and remediations for students identified with a need for special services in the areas of language speech voice and fluency. These services are designed to helpstudentsmeet their educational goals and todecrease the effects of the handicapping condition on the students ability to participate in the educational process in cooperation with other staff members and parents.

FUNCTIONS

1. Conduct and interpret informal and formal assessments of appropriate students identified and referred for assessment

2. Plan and implement educationally relevant therapy programs for eligible students.

3. Participate in the development of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) in conjunction with school personnel and parents.

4. Monitor and attend to behavior of students during SLP Therapy services.

5. Coordinate SLP services with those of other health and educational personnel and provide consultative services.

6. Participate in varied service delivery models (i.e. individual group consultative) in cooperation with the student other school personnel and the students family.

7. Evaluates students in terms of planned goals revises intervention strategies as a result of the evaluation and provides students with feedback on their progress.

8. Organizes and schedules assigned caseload at varied locations.

9. Request/recommend from the Special Education Department the basic SLP equipment and supplies needed.

10. Continue professional educational development and participate in inservice activities for staff and support personnel.

11. Participate in policy formulation as it relates to SLP services.

12. Maintain records and submit reports as required by law and district process and procedure.

13. Maintain clean utilize and transport SLP equipment used for students therapy.

The essential functions listed above are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. The position may perform a variety of non-essential functions consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

and Experience

1. Bachelors degree from an accredited 4 year college.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

1. Ability to function as a team member with staff and parents in the development of

student IEPs.

2. Ability to communicate and interact positively with all types of disabled students

professional associates and patrons of the school district.

3. Knowledge of educational versus medical concerns needing assistance from SLP.

4. Knowledge of Special Education service delivery models.

5. Knowledge of rules and regulations from programs providing services to children with

handicapping conditions and Clover Park School District policies.

6. Knowledge of and ability to maintain/clean SLP equipment.

7. Ability to initiate and maintain required and adequate student and office records.

8. Ability to follow established guidelines to supervise Assistants when appropriate.

9. Ability to regularly lift and push/pull 40 pounds and occasionally lift 60 pounds.

10. Ability to be flexible in regards to scheduling school selections and assignments.

11. Ability to organize workload in two or more work locations on a daily basis.

and Licenses

1. Registered SLP

2. Valid Washington Educational Staff Associate (ESA) Certificate
3. Valid Washington State Drivers License

Qualifications

1. Minimum of one year experience working with youth aged 3 to 21.

2. Working knowledge of computer software and ability to type at least 30 wpm.

3. Current First Aid/CPR

V. WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed at a regular elementary or secondary school building; may be various locations on a daily or weekly basis. Exposure to normal amounts of dust and fumes from office machines and cleaning chemicals and occasional loud noises. Ability to use arms hands and fingers; lift and push/pull 40 pounds often; team lift 60 pounds occasionally; listen closely - more attentive than normal daily life frequently; and often bend stretch twist walk or reach requiring recurring physical activity requiring more than ordinary strength or effort are all required.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical dental vision long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems Plan. For eligibility information check on the link to theDepartment of Retirement Systems web site.

These are supplemental retirement savings programs that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.

*Clover Park School District total possible pay consists of base salary plus the following:

Building Centered Responsibility - 5 days

District Centered Responsibility - 2.5 days

Event Responsibility - 1 day

Attendance required for compensation of responsibility pay (building-centered district-centered and event).
