The Cafeteria Manager oversees all operations of the school cafeteria. This includes the supervision of meal preparation and service compliance with USDA and health standards staff supervision inventory management budgeting and the creation of a safe sanitary and efficient food service environment. The Cafeteria Manager plays a key role in supporting student health and nutrition through high-quality meal service.
Supervises all aspects of daily meal program operations at the assigned school.
Monitors and ensures quality and presentation standards for all prepared and served food.
Orders and verifies food and supply deliveries for accuracy and quality.
Opens and closes kitchen facilities and performs routine sanitation inspections.
Generates and maintains daily production reports and other required documentation.
Promotes a positive and collaborative work environment among nutrition services staff.
Addresses and manages staff performance complaints and disciplinary issues at the site level.
Ensures USDA compliance with guidance from the Area Supervisor.
Assists with school-level marketing efforts to encourage student meal participation.
Manages the food service budget including procurement staffing and supply costs.
Operates the computerized point-of-sale system and compiles required reports.
Organizes and maintains inventory in stockrooms and cold storage.
Trains supervises and evaluates food service staff in preparation food safety and sanitation practices.
Completes ten hours of USDA Professional Standards training annually.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in food service preferably in a school or institutional setting with supervisory responsibilities.
Certification: ServSafe certification required or must be completed within 30 days of employment.
