Job Summary:
With over 400 employees the Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) works with communities to revitalize and strengthen city neighborhoods. DHCD leads the Reframe Baltimore Initiative which is focused on reducing the number of vacant properties in the city and supporting current residents through different housing resource programs. The Equity Officer reports directly to the Housing Commissioner and serves as a member of the Agencys Executive Leadership Team partnering with other senior leaders to develop and drive forward the key strategies to be a diverse equitable and inclusive organization. This position will work with all offices in DHCD to ensure that agency programs equitably support Baltimoreans. The Equity Officer will serve as an agencywide resource for DEI research and best equity practices in the housing development health employment fields and beyond. The position also serves as ADA coordinator and is the agencys liaison with the Baltimore City Office of Equity and Civil Rights.
Essential Functions:
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A bachelors degree in business or public administration Sociology Education Ethnic Studies Communication Social Work Public Health Political Science Management or related field from an accredited college or university.
AND
Experience: Have four years of experience in the DEI field.
OR
Equivalency Notes: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Background Check
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
Probation
All persons including current City employees selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
Residency Requirement & Financial Disclosure
This position is subject to Article I Section 7-10 of the Baltimore City Code which mandates that the incumbent both reside and be a registered voter of
Baltimore City at the time of appointment or sign a declaration of intent to become a City resident and registered voter within 6 months of the effective date of their appointment. Failure to comply with the declaration of intent will result in immediate termination. You will also be required to complete a Financial Disclosure pursuant to Sections 7-7 7-8 and 7-9 of the City Ethics Law. The initial financial disclosure must be submitted within 30 days of hire.
