What can you expect
As the Construction Manager you will work onsite in Houston TX and will plan and direct all aspects of the construction department in accordance with policies goals and objectives established by the Company President and General Manager. You will be responsible for supervising and developing the construction departments management safety and support staff. Additionally you will lead planning and staffing for all construction projects within the Company and deliver results that support continued growth and increase overall organizational efficiency while supporting and maintaining the Calista Brice core values.
How will you do it
- Plan schedule and implement work for all construction projects with construction department staff including regular site visits while the projects are in operation.
- Oversee the development and implementation of site-specific safety and quality plans at the project level in collaboration with the Safety Manager. Ensure plan compliance with current corporate safety policies.
- Recruiting construction department staff as needed.
- Plan schedule and budget for training construction staff to maintain key proficiency and certifications and expand staff capabilities.
- Provide job costs quantities and projections to the General Manager Business Unit President Holding Line and Corporate office as needed.
- Assist in developing and implementing the departments short-term and long-term goals including financial operational and employee development goals.
- Coordinate with the Management Information Systems team to maintain a suite of software for project management and construction.
- Establish project objectives policies and procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of company policy and contract specifications.
- Facilitate and oversee claims negotiations and dispute resolution for construction projects and business needs.
- Assess potential risks for projects and develop risk mitigation strategies.
- Communicate with the General Manager and Business Unit President on a regular basis regarding current department issues and the status of construction projects.
- Compile and review project financial updates including progress cost payments and changes and submit them to the General Manager and Business Unit Director of Finance on a monthly basis.
- Manage and ensure accurate daily project reporting as well as WIP and forecasting.
- Flow down corporate policies and announcements to construction department staff.
- Collaborate with other departments divisions and subsidiaries regarding construction department resources as directed by the General Manager.
- Manage the integration of construction department staff with the estimating department as needed.
- Assist in researching potential future projects for the Brice companies.
- Follow up on client contract payments as needed.
- Coordinate with the Project Controls team on the new project setup including developing budgets and cost codes.
- Manage projects as needed and as department workload dictates.
- Practice and be a role model for all other employees on ethical practices and Corporate Code of Conduct.
- Support officers and other managers in carrying out their duties to promote the companys success.
- Assist in business development and marketing as needed.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position supervises construction management safety and construction support staff within the Company.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced technical knowledge of various field construction concepts practices and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of construction architectural and building industry-standard operating practices/procedures.
- Ability to prepare accurate budgets and cost estimates; knowledge of fiscal management principles and procedures.
- Advanced experience with scheduling subcontracts submittals quality control and safety.
- Ability to organize and perform under deadlines.
- Knowledge and skills in leading and managing critical projects.
- Strong coaching and influencing skills.
- Knowledge of job costing and accounting procedures.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including MS Project and have working knowledge of industry-specific projects scheduling and timekeeping software currently being utilized by the company.
- Ability to deliver services within departmental budgets.
- Excellent writing and speaking skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and adjust to various interpersonal relationships and situations ascertaining business needs for selling company services and products to clients.

- Detail-oriented; superior organizational time management follow-up and records maintenance skills.

- Ability to travel for work-related purposes.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and efficient manner.
Who is Brice Highway LLC looking for
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction or related field required; professional experience may be substituted.
- Ten (10) years previous experience in Heavy Civil Construction Project Management required.
- Five (5) years previous experience in a supervisory position required.
- Valid state drivers license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Highways Driving Policy.
- Ability to pass drug driving record and background screenings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer registration in the State of Texas is preferred.
- Familiarity with HCSS software including Heavy Bid Heavy Job and Equipment 360 preferred.
- Familiarity with Viewpoint Spectrum and Deltek Costpoint preferred.
- Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Brice Inc. has a fast-paced multi-tasking environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. At times work is performed outside of the office at indoor and outdoor job sites. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes and occasional overtime for immediate field support or bid processing may be necessary.
