Duties and Responsibilities

1.*Serves as a front-line manager for the Office of Admissions providing strategic and tactical direction for the Campus Experience and Events team as it serves undergraduate and graduate students. Will provide particular attention and focus to the campus experience and Admissions events which includes but is not limited to: managing the Welcome Center directing and executing on-campus programs and organizing and executing Admissions events on- and off-campus.

2.*Manages and executes Campus Experience strategies for undergraduate and graduate programs. Campus Experience includes all Admissions programming taking place on campus and managing the Welcome Center. Constituents for these strategies includes but is not limited to: prospective students applicants parents/family members admitted students deposited/matriculated students and school/college counselors.

3.* Develops and disseminates the Campus Experience programming calendar of events to campus partners as well as prospective admitted and deposited undergraduate and graduate students under the direction of the Associate Director.

4.*Manages the email accounts phone lines in-person inquiries and online tour reservation system.

5.*Monitors and updates Admissions website contact related to Campus Experience events and programming.

6.*Conducts preliminary venue and vendor scouting and submits initial contract and pricing to Associate Director.

7.*Develops logistics plans for Admissions events working with the Associate Director.

8.*Manages and oversees the execution of Admission events on-and-off campus.

9.*Develops/updates public presentations assessing appropriate and effective recruiting and marketing strategies for various target audiences that include local U.S. Continent as well as international parents and students.

10.*Proposes recruitment strategies related to Admissions events for undergraduate and graduate students working with the Associate Director.

11.*Provides personalized communication with students and parents to clarify or resolve admissions application processing issues. This includes correspondence via email phone and in-person.

12.Reviews and evaluates student applications. Renders admission and scholarship decisions in alignment with admissions and enrollment management strategies.

13.Leads conducts and participates in recruitment activities and events for prospective and/or admitted/matriculated students. These activities and events may include but are not limited to: admission information sessions college fairs high school visits on-campus events and events for other constituents that support students through the college search process (i.e.: parents college counselors). Events held may be outside normally scheduled work hours and involve travel inter-state and out-of-state.

14.*Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with school administrators counselors staff and other admissions professionals.

15.Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1.Possession of a baccalaureate degree in arts and humanities social science business administration education higher education administration or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for any or multiple of the following areas: project management and/or events management; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.

2.Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of project management and/or events management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.

3.Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with project management and/or events management.

4.Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.

5.Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.

6.Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.

7.Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.

8.If applicable for supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.

9.Extensive knowledge of admissions campus experience programming recruitment and ethical practices typical of an institution in higher education.

10.Extensive knowledge of effectively leading teams especially related to event management and programming.

11.Extensive knowledge and ability to administer and coordinate programs.

12.Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner. Requirement may be fulfilled by a valid Hawaii Drivers license (class 3) comparable drivers license or other means of transportation which meets position needs.

13.Ability to travel off island including neighbor islands and mainland for purposes including visitations presentations and college fairs.

14.Extensive knowledge and ability to deal tactfully and affirmatively with others.

15.Demonstrated ability to direct and manage professional staff.

16.Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership and implement innovative and efficient changes.

17.Ability to work outside typical business hours including evenings weekends and holidays.

18.Extensive experience working with students faculty and administrators in both secondary and/or higher education.

Desirable Qualifications

1.Considerable knowledge of the University of Hawaii system and its policies procedures and practices.

2.Experience and knowledge of policies and regulations of UHM as applied to the recruitment of students including diverse ethnic socioeconomic students.

3.Knowledge and experience of the student information system utilized by UHM.

4.Masters degree in educational administration/counseling social sciences or related field.
