Under the supervision of the Clinical Pharmacy Manager the Critical Care Pharmacist is accountable and responsible for ensuring safe and effective drug therapy for patients in the ICU through provision of evidence based direct patient care activities providing education and teaching participation in clinical research quality and patient safety initiatives to improve medication-use processes or pharmacy practice. The Critical Care Pharmacist is highly engaged on precepting pharmacy students pharmacy residents and interprofessional learners in the critical care setting. The Critical Care Pharmacist may participate in clinical activities on weekends and/or holidays may rotate between ICUs and may have a secondary area of clinical practice such as the Emergency Department or IMCU.
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
Graduate of a recognized School of Pharmacy
Eligible for the registration with the Nova Scotia College of Pharmacists required
Completion of a Hospital pharmacy residency program and/or equivalent related direct patient care experience (minimal 2 years) in a hospital setting preferred
BLS (Basic Life Support) required
Knowledge of medication patient safety therapeutics required
Knowledge of medication patient safety concepts an asset
Experience in evidence based clinical research an asset
Strong teaching ability/experience required
Experience in critical appraisal of scientific literature required
Proven effective oral and written communication skills required
Experience as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team required
Ability to prioritize work responsibilities and to work well under time pressures required
Demonstrated interest in professional development and lifelong learning required
Competencies in other languages an asset French preferred

$47.03 - $58.77 Hourly
