NOTICE OF POSITION
POSITION:
The Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tonja Williams Knight is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:
Director of Reading

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must hold a Bachelors and Masters degree NYS certification in Reading/Literacy and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification with demonstrated knowledge of the application of scientifically-based reading research. Candidates must have completed five (5) years of approved and appropriate teaching and/or administrative experience at least two (2) years of which must have been at an administrative level. Candidates must be knowledgeable of the Next Generation Learning Standards ELA State Assessments DIBELS Next and other District assessments and be proficient in the use of technology to enhance reading instruction.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director will oversee implementation of the district reading program grades K-6. The Director will collaborate and coordinate with the Director of English Language Arts (ELA) and other appropriate instructional staff in the Division of Curriculum Assessment and Instruction (CAI) regarding all aspects of the design implementation and oversight of reading including appropriate special education and multilingual education components. An understanding of scientifically-based reading research is required. Responsibilities include:

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following the assessment of training experience credentials evaluation of service program needs and personal interview.
