Your Day-to-Day:

  • Act as the projects single point of authority and accountability for the EC&I engineering discipline
  • Dependent on project scope lead a multi-disciplined engineering team reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the clients responsible engineering team.
  • Responsible for the development key design deliverables such as Block Cable Diagrams Schematics Cable Schedules and General Arrangements.
  • Checking and Approval of cable calculations by hand or in Amtech and lighting calculations in Dialux/Relux.
  • Ensure that design deliverables are of a high standard and compliant with relevant standards regulations and customer specific standards.
  • Ensuring that design consultants and sub-contractors deploy suitably qualified and experienced personnel.
  • Production of documentation that is technically accurate grammatically correct correctly formatted and professionally presented
  • Preparing and reviewing quality plans for multi or single discipline work packages
  • Ensure work delivered is within the defined scope and completed to time and budget.
  • Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented and address commercial impacts.
  • Ensure designs are compliant with CDM regulations and have designer responsibility under CDM
  • Present EC&I engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders who may be discipline experts or non-discipline related.
  • Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs
  • Production and checking of safety related documents such as Hazard Management Strategy and Engineering Substantiation / Justifications Report.
  • Develop estimates define deliverables clarify scope/exclusions and develop programme logic at bid / tender stages.
  • Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the companys capabilities
  • Develop and manage/maintain good working relationships with key counterparts in client or partner organisations

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate you will bring the following to the team:

  • At least 8 years experience in industry of which at least 3 years at Senior Engineer level
  • Ideally 5 years in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector preferred
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the UK
  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • Chartered Member of the IET
  • Detailed knowledge of standards regulations codes and directives and how they should be applied
  • Proven knowledge of the theories principles practices and techniques of EC&I design
  • Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products / plant and equipment
  • Experience of design in accordance with the IET 18th edition (BS7671)

  • Ability to undertake technical tasks and also disclose their technical limitations
  • Willingness to mentor more junior engineers and designers.
  • Ability to work well with all levels of management executive leadership and support staff
  • Work effectively in a team
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • A professional attitude and a can do approach to problem solving
  • Ability to identify discipline-related design changes and assess of their commercial impacts.
  • Reinforces nuclear professionalism and in particular Health Safety and Environment Standards
  • Actively promotes a positive delivery focussed culture where exceeding Client expectations is the norm
  • Professional experience in management of small to medium-size teams and can demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Ability to motivate others
  • Strong communicator
