We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team in the role of Systems Engineer. As a member of our team you will collaborate on various projects focused on the implementation and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure platforms for the State of South Dakota. Responsibilities will include server and storage management virtualization and other related areas and providing technical support to clients to identify and resolve issues.
In this role the incumbent will be responsible for implementing and maintaining enterprise hosting systems to ensure optimal performance data integrity and security. The Incumbent will also play a key role in providing technical support to team members external staff and third-party providers helping to identify and resolve problems.
Candidate may be required to work outside normal working hours. This can include maintenance and upgrades to systems/infrastructure and any emergency patches and events.

Knowledge of:

possess broad knowledge of information technology project management methodologies including cost-benefit analysis and decision analysis;
continuously improve standard processes related to financial and risk analysis as well as systems engineering;
understand how software procedures and infrastructure components integrate and are maintained to achieve enterprise-level disaster recovery and backup goals.
Ability to:

approve schedule plan and supervise the installation and testing of new products frameworks and improvements to computer systems;
design and implement system software configurations to support the needs of the users while ensuring compatibility with other installed software;

perform and guide systems administrators in the effective management of the system software and hardware;
plan and install upgrades of system software to enhance performance;
implement disaster recovery and contingency plans and participate in the development of recovery plans;
propose new technologies new technical and architectural strategies and new processes to meet business challenges;
ensure compliance with hardware and software license agreements;
engage in opportunities to learn enterprise-wide architecture and technologies;
design and deploy multiple systems that have enterprise-wide impact;
proactively assess the impact of technology changes on business practices budgets and clients;
perform root-cause analysis of information technology system issues to prevent future occurrences;
plan for implement troubleshoot and maintain the systems and infrastructure used in backing up recovering and troubleshooting enterprise data storage locations and their content;
tune troubleshoot and update as needed the software products and infrastructure components used for enterprise level disaster backup and recovery.
