Job Description
Description: This classroom teacher position is located at Halifax Elementary School in Halifax MA and reports directly to the building principal.
A successful candidate will:
- Possess a valid MA license to teach grades 1-6 Elementary (1-6) and SEI Endorsement
- Collaborate with grade level teachers
- Collaborate with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are properly and consistently delivered
- Use data to inform instruction
- Communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing
- Work with students colleagues and families from diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an inclusive and culturally-proficient manner
- Support students academically emotionally and behaviorally
- Plan and facilitate lessons
- Use all available technology and virtual curricula provided by the district to create engaging lessons that are linked with 21st Century skills
- Manage classroom behavior with positive behavior strategies that motivate students and limit disruptions
- Administer assessments and utilize available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students including MCAS and ACCESS as well as district wide formative assessments
- Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners
- Utilize available data to make instructional decisions that target the academic and linguistics needs of students
- Communicate with families on a regular basis using culturally responsive strategies that promote two-way conversations
- Employ a strong growth mindset and participate in professional development
- Proctor assessments for students on exams including MCAS and ACCESS
This is a fulltime benefits eligible position through the Town of Halifax and salary is commensurate with experience education and alignment to the Halifax Teachers Association contract.
