Key job responsibilities
- Develop advanced simulations and data analyses to optimize automation system configuration options to meet end-to-end system goals integrating Amazons internally developed robotics with externally supplied material handling systems.
- Validate simulation models using production data streams site visits and correspondence across engineering robotics software and operations teams to ensure models have sufficient detail to enable accurate quantitative evaluation of performance
- Utilize simulation models to identify and justify performance improvement opportunities via control logic hardware and process flow changes
- Work closely with Tech Deployment teams to implement end-to-end solutions in the field
A day in the life
We are looking for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineer to optimize complex process flows leveraging state-of-the-art robotics and other advanced automation systems on a massive scale. This position is a unique opportunity to be involved in a wide range of automation projects right from the start. You will interface with multiple internal Amazon R&D and design teams as well as the worlds leading automation strategic partners who have the technology and resources to meet Amazons growth needs on a global scale. You will work on projects that optimize performance quality and delivery of new automation systems and leverage operational data to deliver results for an extensive advanced automation installed base. This is an excellent opportunity for an automation engineer looking to transition into a highly strategic globally significant role.
- Engineering degree in mechanical electrical industrial robotics mechatronics or equivalent.
- Bachelor degree
- Background in Computer Vision Machine Learning and Robotics
- Experience with building and deploying AI systems in manufacturing automation
- Experience developing integration interfaces for industrial robot manipulators
- Hands-on expertise in robotics technologies from front-end user interfaces to back-end systems
- Experience applying modelling and simulation to industrial automation projects
- Experience working with cross functional teams suppliers and field operations to define system requirements and evaluation metrics
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Competence with computational packages for simulation and optimization
- Experience with programming languages
- Industrial controls engineering experience -
- Experience with complex machine learning models of physical systems commissioning of industrial control software
- Proficiency with machine and process reliability integration of human and automated processes experimental design statistical analysis
