CO-OP Student Internal Audit

Employee Status: Contract

Bargaining Unit: Non-Union

Location: 20 Bay Street

Pay Range:$21.22 - $24.41 per hour. Your hourly rate will be based on the year of study at school.

Working Model: HYBRID (minimum 2 days on-site per week)

Contract: 4 months starting September 2025

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Internal Audit department is looking for a CO-OP Student to assist with the planning execution and reporting of results related to the annual Internal Audit plan. The CO-OP Students will work with internal partners to provide support in the completion of required tasks and deliverables. You will report to the Senior Manager Internal Audit Operations.

What will I be doing

  • Participates in audits and projects in conformance with professional (IIA) standards and industry best practice. Other work may include financial operational internal control value for money and compliance audits and related risk assessments under the supervision of the Senior Manager;
  • Assists with risk assessments for each assigned audit; develops process maps and documentation to support control gap analysis;
  • Assists with defining the business requirements to develop and maintain data-based analytics to test controls at the population level;
  • Executes the test steps for each assigned audit under the supervision of the Senior Manager;
  • Assist with identifying and defining audit issues and root causes; recommends improved internal controls and business processes;
  • Provides a variety of administrative and/or technical services to support the team which may include: preparing reports memos documents; maintains and updates electronic and hardcopy filing systems; provides record management services
  • Develops spreadsheets forms and databases to input track store and retrieve data
  • Work with internal and external partners to collect data respond to queries and exchange information
  • Help produce daily/weekly/monthly operational documentation and reports as assigned
  • Provide support to staff in a variety of areas including gathering inputting organizing and interpreting data for reports/presentations/meetings/projects
  • Prepare agendas coordinate attend and take minutes for daily technical/operational meetings
  • Certain travel and/or field work may occasionally be required

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need

  • Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution
  • Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment
  • Enrolled in (Accounting Business Administration Computer Science Mathematics Engineering) at a post-secondary institution
  • Strong written oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with and assist other co-workers with various projects
