Job Description

The Department of Human Performance at Minnesota State University Mankato is accepting applications for a fixed-term position in the undergraduate exercise science and graduate exercise physiology programs.

  • A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twelve (12) credits per semester of instruction.
  • The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
  • May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face hybrid and simulations at the Mankato campus teach online and/or at the universitys additional locations including clinical sites as assigned.
  • The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design instruction and evaluation and help create innovative strategies for student recruitment retention and completion and expectations as listed in Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement.
  • All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research in continuing preparation and study in contributing to student growth and development and in providing service to the university and community (see Article 22 and Appendix G of theIFO Master Agreement).
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Biomechanics Science of Strength Training & Kinesiology Group Exercise Instruction.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching graduate courses in Biomechanics & Motor Learning Evidence-based practice in Exercise Physiology.
  • Potentially other courses in the undergraduate Exercise Science and graduate Exercise Physiology programs based on program needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.
  • Masters degree in Exercise Science Kinesiology Biomechanics or related field (conferred on an official transcript at the time of hire).

Preferred Qualification

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
  • Doctorate or terminal degree in Exercise Science Kinesiology Biomechanics or related field.
  • Demonstrated effective written oral communication and/or presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated preparation to teach advise and support a wide variety of students.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach the courses listed below along with additional courses depending on the departments needs; Biomechanics Motor Learning Strength Training Kinesiology Group Exercise Instruction.
  • Demonstrated contributions to student growth and development and the ability or willingness to incorporate experiential learning into coursework.
  • Demonstrated commitment to program and department activities university services or assessment processes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Demonstrated success or strong potential in scholarly pursuits research grant writing and dissemination through publication and professional presentation.
  • Currently hold or have potential to become certified in NSCA-CSCS (within 2 years) and First Aid/CPR/AED.

The Department of Human Performance offers undergraduate programs in Exercise Science Physical Education-DAPE and Sports Management and graduate programs in Athletic Training Exercise Physiology and Sport Exercise and Performance Psychology. The Exercise Science program has an enrollment of 340 undergraduate and 10-15 graduate students.
