JOB SUMMARY
Under the administrative supervision of the Chief Operating Officer the Respiratory Therapy Manager supervises the provision of direct and indirect RT patient care at Curry General Hospital and Curry Medical Center. Manages outpatient cardiopulmonary services including cardiac and pulmonary rehab. Functions as liaison between patients physicians and other healthcare providers. Communicates with physicians senior nursing officer house supervisors and co-workers as appropriate about changes in patients cardiopulmonary status including results of diagnostic studies and changing symptoms. Responsible for ensuring competence of Respiratory Therapists. Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures related to the Cardiopulmonary Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Able to perform all Essential Functions of a Respiratory Therapist.
Assign respiratory therapy responsibilities considering skill mix and unique patient needs.
Ensure and validate competencies (initial and ongoing) for all Respiratory Therapists. Responsible for ongoing development of competencies. Ensures that Care and Documentation by staff members meets current standards of practice and complies with all such guidelines.
Perform routine and emergent cardiopulmonary interventions as needed to support the department.
Oversee and coordinate outpatient cardiac rehab pulmonary rehab and other outpatient cardiopulmonary testing.
Performs administrative duties to support optimal performance of the department including overseeing scheduling and staffing. Processes time approvals by designated due dates/times and completes annual staff evaluations. Participates in budgeting and is accountable for compliance within budget standards.
Familiar with Policies Procedures and Protocols. Responsible for reviewing and updating policies and procedures related to respiratory therapy and cardiopulmonary care.
Other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the department and organizational performance in accordance with Curry Health Networks Mission Vision and Shared Values.
